Regular visitors to Nethy Bridge are no doubt aware that we are lucky to have a local butcher shop. “Mr Mustard’s” has recently been given an overhaul and is now the Balliefurth Farm Shop. The meat couldn’t be anymore local as the farm is located on the road to Grantown.
The shops sells a wide variety of produce to accompany the local meats.

Cairngorm Mountain Resort has opened to skiing and boarding for the 2016/17 season. A week of cold weather and snow at higher levels means that we are now into the winter snow sports season.
Ardach is perfectly located as a base for snow sports. Ideally located for both Cairngorm Mountain and The Lecht it means that you can choose the best conditions based on weather and snow levels.

The house is very cosy with two log fires , central heating plus other heating for the severest cold snaps. All logs, coal and heating costs are included in the prices. There are plenty walks to be enjoyed around the village, through the woods and by the river.
Ardach is only 13 miles from Glenmore and 17 miles from Cairngorm ski lift and it’s funicular railway to the summit of Cairngorm itself.
After 12 years go-karting will shortly be making a return to the area. The new purpose built facility is situated on the outskirts of Aviemore and is less than a 15 minute drive from Ardach House.
The owners of the original Aviemore go-karts are set to launch the new activity in the next few weeks. A trial race is being conducted this week to ensure that all goes well.
Yet another fantastic activity to have in that area. Ensuring that the area remains one of the best locations for a holiday in Scotland.

This week sees the Scottish Open Golf tournament at Castle Stuart, near Inverness Airport and less than an hour’s drive from Ardach. Therse is excellent parking available and brilliant viewing possibilities all around the course. Check out the Open website for more information.

Abernethy Forest, Nethy Bridge, is one of the main filming locations for the new BBC Scotland series Highlands: Wild Heart of Scotland.
Narrated by Ewan MacGregor the series shows the wildlife and vistas of the local area. The photography is stunning and highly recommended viewing.
Episode 1 features Red Squirrel, Osprey, Dippers and Deer and is available on iPlayer now.
The Speyside area is recognised across the globe as home to some of the top whisky producers. There are a large number of distilleries which you can visit and enjoy a tour of the distillery along with tasting some of the whisky.
The annual Spirit of Speyside Festival runs from 28th April to 2nd May in 2016. The festival includes a large range of events, music and special offers which are listed on their site. A great resource if attending the festival or you are in the area the rest of the year.
UPDATE: Unfortunately the recent devastating fire at The Speyside Centre means that the attraction is no longer in operation. We hope that it returns in some form soon!
One very local attraction is The Whisky Lounge at The Speyside Centre, Dulnain Bridge, near Grantown-on-Spey. Well worth a visit if you enjoy whisky or a keen gardener as they also have a garden cen
On Monday 29th February the meteor strike was spotted in Nethy Bridge and across North Eastern Scotland. The Press and Journal have now published a map showing some of the reported sightings. It looks like we have a new activity to add to the range of things you can do when staying in the area….hunting for meteor fragments!
