Abernethy Golf Course

Ardach self catering in Nethy Bridge is just a sand wedge from the clubhouse of Abernethy Golf Club. A lovely nine hole course which is trickier than its length suggests.

Homemade catering is available and you are sure to enjoy a friendly welcome.
Abernethy is a relaxed golf club so welcomes new players, juniors and keen golfers equally.

Improvements at Ardach

We have been busy updating Ardach over the past few months. The bedrooms have been upgraded and the website has been updated to show recent pictures of each. We have also replaced the kitchen table.

Dining offer from local boutique hotel

Family holidays at Ardach usually include a meal or two out. One local establishment has a new offer which would be a shame to miss!

Muckrach House in the nearby village of Dulnain Bridge offers lovely locally sourced food and is worth considering for a meal. Their latest offer is of special interest as they will provide free homeward travel back to Nethy Bridge. Winter Breaks

Please call the owner on 0131 332 5055 to discuss winter break discounts for during December, January and March. The house is very cosy with two log fires , central heating plus other heating for the severest cold snaps. All logs, coal and heating costs are included in the prices. BT Infinity plus Netflix and WiFi are also included.

There are plenty walks to be enjoyed around the village, through the woods and by the river.

Ardach is only 13 miles from Glenmore and 17 miles from Cairngorm ski lift and it’s funicular railway to the summit of Cairngorm itself.

Fabulous day on Tuesday, 19th July – sunny and hot at 26 C!! Spectaculat thunder and lightning on Wednesday, 20th – all very summery!!

Scottish Open Golf at Castle Stuart, Inverness

This week sees the Scottish Open Golf tournament at Castle Stuart, near Inverness Airport and less than an hour’s drive from Ardach. Therse is excellent parking available and brilliant viewing possibilities all around the course. Check out the Open website for more information.

Abernethy forest features in new BBC Scotland series

Abernethy Forest, Nethy Bridge, is one of the main filming locations for the new BBC Scotland series Highlands: Wild Heart of Scotland.

Narrated by Ewan MacGregor the series shows the wildlife and vistas of the local area. The photography is stunning and highly recommended viewing.

Episode 1 features Red Squirrel, Osprey, Dippers and Deer and is available on iPlayer now.

 

Meteor sightings in Nethy Bridge

On Monday 29th February the meteor strike was spotted in Nethy Bridge and across North Eastern Scotland. The Press and Journal have now published a map showing some of the reported sightings. It looks like we have a new activity to add to the range of things you can do when staying in the area….hunting for meteor fragments!
